Turfing in Edinburgh
Homes in Edinburgh
Much of central Edinburgh is a conservation area, and the city has many stone-built tenements alongside its Georgian and Victorian houses. If your garden is split across levels, the lawn and the steps between them need thinking about together. Pictured here are sleeper and granite garden steps from our own work. The picture shows hard landscaping rather than turf, and steps like these are the sort of feature a new lawn can be laid around. Turfing in Edinburgh around steps is easier to quote for when we know the layout, so mention any changes of level when you get in touch, along with the rough size of the area.

What matters for turfing in Edinburgh
The work starts by agreeing exactly which ground is being turfed and what else in the garden is changing. We then put down the turf and bring the lawn to a finish. The next stage belongs to you: regular watering through the early weeks as the turf takes root. We are fully insured and registered as a waste carrier.
- Estimate the lawn area and note any steps, paths or changes of level.
- Say whether you want real turf throughout or artificial grass in part of the garden.
- We lay the turf across the agreed area and finish the surface.
- As a registered waste carrier, we can discuss waste from the job when quoting.
- Water the new lawn often in its early weeks.
Questions about turfing in Edinburgh
Would artificial grass suit my garden better than real turf?
That depends on how you use the garden, and we install both. Artificial grass needs a compacted, well-draining sub-base to stay level, while real turf needs watering often in its first few weeks as it roots. You can ask about either in the same enquiry.
Are you insured to work at my property?
Yes, we are fully insured. We are also a registered waste carrier, which matters if old turf or soil needs to leave the site.
